An Apology or Overture

I apologize to all those who have been wondering what has happened to the unstoppably talkative hostess of the “global salon of curious minds, poetic voices, nuanced feelings, and avid responders.”
Since January I’ve entered a nightmare caused by ridiculous dental issues.  After spending a huge amount of money and time on repairing an infected tooth (including a root canal and a permanent crown) I was recently told by my two collaborating dentists that this very tooth now has to be extracted and undergo most costly implant bone grafting, for which a total of no less than $6000 is pre-estimated.  At the same time, my dental insurance notified me that my annual maximum benefit for 2011 has been reached and I will have to pay every cent out of pocket for any dental treatment in the upcoming 10 months.
I feel myself standing at the front desk of a dentist’s office with the same confusion and despair as the protagonist of Kafka’s Before the Law (Vor dem Gesetz).
On the other hand, however, I realize that I must develop a more positive attitude toward these dentally and periodontally Kafkaesque procedures instead of taking the opportunity to indulge in grief, despondency, and horror.
Let this be the overture to a new Schaffensperiode!
