As part of the Spring Humanities Festival 2015, a multilingual poetry reading took place on Tuesday, April 28 at Lorton Performance Center, Meinig Recital Hall:
The
event was conceived as an artistic way to manifest the universal accessibility
of poetry as well as the possibilities of cross-cultural communication. It
turned out to be a big-impact success:
1. Lydie Meunier: Henri Michaux, “Le Grand Combat” (French, “The Grand Combat”)
2. Bruce MacQueen:
Leopold Staff, “Radość chwili” (Polish, “The Joy of the Moment”)
3.
Victor Udwin: Walther von der Vogelweide, “Unter der Linden” (German, “Under
the Linden”)
4. Bruce Dean Willis:
Manoel de Barros, “O menino que carregava água na peneira” (Portuguese, “The
Boy who Carried Water in a Sieve”)
5.
David Tingey: Wolfgang von Goethe, “Wanderers Nachtlied” (German, “Wanderer’s
Nightsong”)
6. Huiwen (Helen)
Zhang: Yue Fei, “Man Jiang Hong”(Chinese, “How Red the River”)
