This afternoon, two poet colleagues and I joined an advanced choreography class. We witnessed how creative minds and bodies transformed a word into an action or posture, and a line of poetry into a sequence of moves or pauses.
As I
stepped out of the dance room, I realized that each gesture or action, like
word, has its etymology, of which we are aware or ignorant, intuitive or apprehensive. Thus, each sequence of moves or pauses has,
like poetry, a palimpsestic past and a palimpsestic future.
I am deeply sorry to have missed this!
